PRAY DAILY

        It sounds so simple and so obvious.  Yet we know that many if not most do not know how to pray.  That puts us in good company because Jesus’ own disciples didn’t either.  And so they entreated Him, “Lord, teach us how to pray”.

        Prayer can and should be taught.  We know that whatever we ask people to do; we must equip and train them to do.  People do not need more books about prayer or lectures on prayer.  What they need is instruction on how to actually pray. 

        Thus we see BCC organizing itself to offer on going lessons in how to pray.  This might be the six week class that uses something like Maxie Dunham’s “Workbook of Living Prayer”, Kim Ryan’s 3 hour introduction to prayer workshop, or some of the other small group resources that have proven to be effective for actually learning how to pray.

        We also see the ministry of intercessory prayer as a ministry waiting to happen at BCC.  Kim Ryan announces that she has been spending one day a month in prayer and invites persons to send in prayer requests and the phone rings and e-mail arrives!  We have people at BCC who have the gift of intercessory prayer waiting to be identified, trained and equipped.
