ENGAGE IN THE LIFE OF SERVICE
Another key of being a disciple of Jesus is intentionally engaging in both one's ministry in the local church and one's mission in the world beyond the church. the life of a disciple is a life of service. We follow One who "came to serve, not to be served". Disciples know that God so love the world that God gave God's own son (John 3:16) and God intends to keep on loving the world through us! (John 13:34) The Bible teaches that all person of faith have gifts for ministry and those gifts are to be named, identified, developed and used for the building up of the Body of Christ and for the service of God's purposes for Creation.
We see every adult who enters BCC going through our Life Focus Seminar of spiritual gift assessment. The goal is the development of a personal mission statement that would enable a growing disciple to articulate, own and engage in the ministry to which the Spirit of the Living God calls them.
We also see that BCC will need to train our people to use their gifts effectively. Our best example of that presently is the Stephen Ministry. This wonderful ministry of Care Giving works so well because there is a proven system in place that requires training and supervision of gifted Care Givers by Qualified leaders. we also know there are limitless opportunities for us to provide avenue for maturing disciples to "meet Jesus in the least of these", a meeting that transforms lives!
