Wednesday Wonder  

Monastic Lizard

You will never convince me that

the visitation of the green lizard

suction cupped to my window

was an accident

Oh, he could have been passing by

on the way to lunch

his reptilian eye fixed

on some juicy bug

He just as easily could have perched

on my monastic glass

to peek inside, wonder

at the unfolding spectacle

Or maybe there was

some cold blooded longing

to sing out with tiny lungs

and wear a robe of his own
