All God's Children

Because every person is created in God’s image, it is the mission of Broadway Christian Church to create and implement a ministry for and with children and youth with disabilities and their families who might not be able to otherwise participate in the ongoing spiritual life of the congregation.

It has been our experience that many families with children with disabilities have been unable to participate in the life of the church.  We work with parents to devise a plan based on intake paperwork to include a child or youth in as much of our program as is beneficial to the student and their family.

AGC Program

All God’s Children is an adapted Sunday School & Worship program that serves children with various disability types: sensory deficits (vision, hearing), orthopedic disorders, learning disabilities, cognitive deficits, behavioral disabilities, speech/language impairments, autism, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Children benefit through a planned, structured Sunday School program that is appropriate for age and developmental levels. The adapted curriculum is integrated, multimodal and thematic, providing best practice for children and youth with disabilities.  We utilize accessible curriculum while parents participate in the 11:15 a.m. contemporary service.

Vacation Bible School

We offer an adapted accessible program concurrent with our church’s VBS program each summer.  Youth and children will be included in classes with age-appropriate peers as much as possible.

Respite Services

Families benefit from the loving acceptance of our community of faith and the freedom to attend a Sunday school class and/or worship service while their children are safe in our program. This includes an opportunity for these children to have fun and fellowship with peers in a similar situation all while building relationships with staff and volunteers from All God’s Children.

Learn About God

We provide one-on-one support as needed to adapt the PreK-Youth Sunday School curriculum to allow for participation with age-appropriate peers during the 10:10 a.m. Christian Education Hour.

Worship and Wonder is held in separate classrooms (2-3 yrs and 4-5 yrs) located in the Nursery Wing. We offer a creative, imaginative, and exciting way to approach faith formation with children. The approach recognizes children as spiritual beings who already have a relationship with God.

Pathways is Broadway's Sunday School Program for children ages Kindergarten through 5th grade. Pathways is a kid-friendly, Bible-based Church School program that celebrates the different learning styles of children. Bible themes are taught in a rotation, focusing on different aspects of the story each week.  Children focus on a particular Bible story or theme for a 4-6 week period. Immersing children in the Bible through drama, storytelling, art, geography, science, music, multimedia, games, and more engages every child’s learning style, and most importantly, engage their love of learning about God and faith.

Youth of Broadway is our dynamic youth program. Hosted in the refurbished, original sanctuary, now called the Loft, our program centers around walking alongside 6th–12th-grade students, helping them to develop and deepen their faith in Christ.

Serve God

All God’s Children engages in service with and for the congregation and community. Examples of our service include handing out bulletins to the congregation as they enter the sanctuary and creating care packages for the homeless and hurting in our community.  Each Sunday the students participating in the AGC program learn about offering and prayer and how these positively influence their lives and their community.  We believe it is important to engage in service to understand that you have a valuable place in your community of faith and community at large, not just to be served, but to serve.

Celebrate God

In addition to all the previously mentioned ways we integrate our children and youth into the life of the church, we also have special activities imbedded in the life of the church designed to teach children and youth to celebrate a relationship with Christ.  Some of these rights of passage include participation in baptism and Bible presentation. There are also opportunities to participate in Christmas programs, and choirs.  Other activities occur during church worship such as Young Disciples Storytime. Youth (6th-12th graders) participate in Wednesday Night Youth Groups, youth bells and choirs, special events, our annual mission trip, puppet Sunday and fundraisers.
