Fall Sunday Morning Classes

10:10am Biblical Foundations.  Facilitator: TBA.  A one semester introduction to the Bible and its study.  This class is especially intended for folks with no background in bible study, or those who want to brush up a little before moving into some of the other class offerings.  Meets in Fellowship Hall.

10:10am  Sunshine Class.  Facilitators: Don Day & John Poehlmann.  Traditional Bible study with a healthy dose of fellowship.  Next study: Book of Romans.  Meets in the Fellowship Hall.

10:10am  The Good Book Club.  Facilitator: Resa Kerns.  A mix of traditional and progessive Bible study, with explorations into the diverse world of contemporary Christian thought and theology.  Next study: Finding the Lost - The Parables of Luke 15: The Sheep, The Coin, The Prodigal Son.  Meets downstairs.

10:10am  Growing as Disciples Group, Facilitator: Terri Zeilenga.  Focusing on the 8 keys of discipleship and spiritual disciplines to grow your faith.  Next study: Lord, Teach us to Pray, Finding Delight in the Practice of Prayer, by Fred A. Hartley III.  Meets downstairs.

10:10am  Living Word Study Group. Facilitator: Deb Ward.  Bible study blended with views of historical and archeological context.  Next study: Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus.  Meets in Large Conference Room, near the office.

10:10am  Parents of Sunday School Age Children.  Facilitator: Bryce Atkins.  A weekly gathering designed for parents of children in the Pathways program.  The group will meet in the CLC, and study discussion topics that will vary according to the groups interests.

10:10am  Walking the Word.  Facilitator: Guy Adams.  Focus on Christian Ethics in Today's World.  Meets for 8 weeks in Fellowship Hall.  David McGee will follow with a week-by-week discussion of Christian & ethical response based on articles from Sojourners magazine.

  • 5:00pm  Parents with Small Children.  Facilitator, Hallie Rainwater.  Meets once a month at Rainwater's home.  Children are welcome.  Starts Sept 12

 

  • 6:00pm  Parents with College Age Children.  Facilitators, Andy & Ceresa Ward.  Meets every other week in the Large Conference Room at BCC.  Study focus:  Yet to be determined.  Next meeting, Sept 6.

  • 6:00am  Men's Breakfast Group.  Facilitator,  Tim Kersey.  Meets weekly in the Fellowship Hall.  Study Focus: prayer time, book study or biblical passages, strong emphasis on fellowship.

  • 7:00am The Pastor's Book Shelf.  Study Focus: A New Kind of Christianity: Ten Questions that are Transforming the Faith, by Brian McLaren.  Meets weekly at Ernie's, 1005 E Walnut St.  Facilitator, Tim Carson.  Begins Sept. 14

 

  • 1:00pm  Covenant Women’s Study Group, Study focus: Christian Church Women.  Meets weekly in the Fellowship Hall at BCC.  Facilitator, Cecelia Kersey. Begins Sept 14

 

  • 6:30pm  Women's Book Club.  Meets 3rd Tuesday of each month at Charlette Carrington's home.  Facilitator, Carla Koch.

 

  • 7:00pm Small Group for Men and Women.  Informal group, meets once a month over dinner to listen, support.   Facilitator, Steve Westgate.

  • 6:30pm  Exploring The Faith: From The Ground Up.  In this six week seminar participants will have the opportunity to give voice to their questions of faith and reflect on core aspects of the Christian story in a group envirnment of acceptance and curiosity.  Meets weekly in Fellowship Hall.  Facilitator, Tim Carson.  Starts Sept 15

 

 

  • 7:00pm Wednesday Evening Women's Group.  Meets 2nd & 4th Wednesday at Jan Farr's home.  Study focus: Embracing Your Second Calling: Find Passion and Purpose for the Rest of Your Life, by Dale Hanson Bourke.  Facilitator, Tina Windett.

 

THURSDAY

 

  • 10:30am  Women's Day Fellowship.  The group will gather every 2nd Thursday of the month in the Large Conference Room for a variety of studies, devotionals and fellowship.  Light refreshments will be served.  Facilitators, Bertha Nichols & Gertie Combs.  Starts Sept 9

  • 6:00pm  The Church Chicks Singles Small Group.  Focus: leisure and friendship building.  Meets at the Food Court at the Mall and other event/activities as determined by the group.  Facilitator, Melody Freeman.
