Come and See

Come and See

Text: John 1:43-51 (NRSV)

Guest Preacher: Rev. Alexis Tardy

In this text, the validity of Jesus’ call was questioned because of where he was from geographically. Some of us relate to that stinging feeling of rejection when we are not included because we are different. Others of us have done the harmful excluding. But most likely, all of us have done both at some point. During the Civil Rights Movement, power came from seemingly unlikely places, like Black youth who were in elementary school or Ella Baker who worked with and even challenged Martin Luther King, Jr. As we are called to continue the tradition of justice that has been set before us, how as Christ-followers and peacemakers can we invite our communities to come and see the liberating goodness of the Gospel?
